Welcome to Matsushita Kitchen (マツシタキッチン), a delightful café nestled in the vibrant Higashinari Ward of Osaka. Renowned for its exquisite kakigori (shaved ice), this charming spot offers a refreshing escape from the sweltering summer heat.

As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with friends or family. The café’s decor strikes a balance between cozy and modern, making it an ideal place to unwind and savor your treats.

Matsushita Kitchen is particularly famous for its kakigori, which comes in both large and mini sizes—perfect for those who want to indulge without overdoing it. Customers rave about the delicious flavors, which pack a punch in every bite. Popular choices like the cacao milk and passion fruit milk will have you returning for more. Each creation is a visual feast, often resembling whimsical pyramids crafted from fluffy ice topped with vibrant syrups and toppings, making it not only a treat for your taste buds but also for your eyes.

One satisfied customer, Giuliano, enthusiastically recommends ordering the large size, especially during Osaka’s hot and humid summers—a sentiment echoed by others who have experienced the cool respite of these exquisite desserts. Ashley Mitchell shared her surprise at falling in love with kakigori for the first time here, captivated by the unique seasonal flavors that beckon to be tasted before they disappear.

The sensory experience is heightened by the café's commitment to quality and flavor consistency. Lisa Matsumoto noted how each bite was full of flavor, a rarity in the world of kakigori. And if you're feeling adventurous, customer reviews highlight the exceptional matcha anko option as well, which comes highly recommended by those in the know.

A visit to Matsushita Kitchen is more than just a quick snack; it’s a moment to relish. Patrons like Keta Kenken fondly recount their unexpected discovery after being turned away from a nearby shop—only to find happiness waiting for them here, where both the kakigori and the friendly service left a lasting impression.

While the prices may have seen a slight increase, many, including カルダモン兄貴, agree that the quality and experience justify the cost. In a city bustling with options, this café deserves a special mention as a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers alike.

So, whether you're a lifelong fan of kakigori or trying it for the first time, Matsushita Kitchen promises an unforgettable journey of flavors that will leave you eagerly planning your next visit.

Small café that sells delicious shaved ice that comes in big and small sizes. Order the big one! Ideal during the hot and humid Japanese summers.

This was fantastic! I’ve never been much of a かき氷 fan, but this place won me over. And they have seasonal flavors, which I feel an urge to go back and try before they’re gone~ (This is cacao milk btw)

I went last summer, August 2022 - I’ve never really liked Japanese kakigori because I feel like there isn’t flavor in every bite but this was delicious! I got the cacao milk (pictured in front) and my friend got the passionfruit milk (in the back) and each bite was full of flavor till the very end. So good! They’re also massive so we got pretty full, but seems like they also offer mini sizes. Pictured is the regular size! But lines get long real quick - I arrived 10-15 mins before opening but there were already 4? groups ahead of us, and lots of people arrived behind us soon after. The store doesn’t have too many seats so better arrive early if you don’t want to wait too long.

The best kakigori I’ve had all summer. I had the cacao milk wih chocolate sauce. My partner had the matcha Anko one and it apparently is really good as well. Prices are slightly more expensive, but very worth it my my standards. If you are not feeling up to the kakigori tower (it is pretty big), they offer a mini version also for a lower price, that looks like a flattened version of the one in the photo. Space is small- seats only about ~15 people, so be prepared to wait during busy times. Located in a quiet neighbourhood but fairly easy to get there walking.
